On the Boards: Topeka Zoo – Camp Cowabunga
As the first project under the Topeka Zoo’s recent master plan, Camp Cowabunga is an African Safari of the most extraordinary kind. Based on the more than 140 actual safari’s led by the zoo’s emeritus director, Gary Clarke, this major 3+ million USD exhibit brings an intimate safari experience to its public. Visitors will journey on actual game drive vehicles, engage directly with patas monkeys and explore the Zambezi waterfront play zone…all the while being immersed in a pan-African natural and cultural setting. Working with GLMV Architects based in Wichita, Studio Tectonic is providing design/build exhibition and interpretive design and planning.
